The Radiology Department also underwent a major overhaul to accommodate better flow and comfort level for clients, a new ultrasound room and waiting area for clients was also completed. The main surgical suit has been upgraded to include recovery bays and major equipment additions. Work has also been done to the central sterilization unit to meet international standards, especially during this time when the world is fighting the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Laboratory was also significantly enhanced with an extension to conduct molecular testing inclusive of COVID-19. The lab was also the recipient of cutting edge equipment. We also had major improvements with a new storage building that now houses medical and food storage, ambulance bay, quarters for the Emergency Medical Technicians who are on call 24 hours a day and morgue facilitates. In addition, the hospital was the recipient of a new oxygen generating plant and housing which has significantly improved resilience.
In the near future Communities in Central Health District will be the recipients of The Valley Health Complex which will house, The Valley Health Centre, pharmacy, dental, physiotherapy, health promotion and Corporate services in a new fir for purpose building.
Across all health centres the implementation of an integrated electronic health system has be rolled out to improve quality of care.
